Smiley Kids Montessori came into being as a result of the deep passion of Mrs Janet Eniola Thomas to see children grow and mature in an environment that feels like home and to see every child achieve their developmental milestones as they progress, using the Whole Child Approach and the Holistic Curriculum.
The School which was designed as a base for building academic excellence, was incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission on March 15th, 2006 as a Limited Liability Company and commissioned by Her Excellency, Dame Abimbola Fashola on July 29th, 2007. The school commenced operation with a Nursery and Primary school for the 2007/2008 Academic Year on September 10th, 2007.
Smiley Kids Montessori started with a staff strength of (3) and a children population of (3), the first set of teachers were Mrs. Janet Eniola Thomas, Ms. Folayinka, and Mrs. Helen Ebhodaghe. We currently have fourteen teaching staff, administrative staff, non-teaching, and support staff.
The school started as a Nursery school with four bungalows, housing the crèche, pre-school classes, primary classes, the Library and computer room, and a school hall, all en-suite with a box room and a toilet. There are other facilities like a generous sand play area toddlers, a football field, a basketball court, and a swimming pool for school-aged children. In 2014, the board of Directors decided to continue with the delivery of high-quality education by extending the classrooms, to separate the Nursery from the Primary.
Smiley Kids Montessori is an active member of NAPPS and ACSI Ibeju-Lekki branch.
The school has trained many pupils from crèche into year 6 and has been conducting graduation ceremonies yearly. We have participated in numerous inter-school debates, and mathematics and science competitions.
We run a pure Nigerian curriculum with a blend of the British curriculum and the Montessori Method of teaching at our Nursery department.
